Biodiesel is a typical "green energy", perfect for substituting petroleum diesel. It can be made from many plant oils, such as soy, rapeseed , Oil plam, Pistacia chinensis Bungeengineering, and tiny alga, or animal grease and waste edible oils. The characteristics of biodiesel is low content of sulfur and aroma hydrocarbon, high content of oxygen, high cetane value and flash point, less hazardous exhaust gas. The key issue of industrialization of biodiesel production is the raw material.Sapium sebiferum(L.) Roxb is an excellent biomass. It is belong to special woody oil plants in China, and is ranked in top four woody oil plants for high seed oil content. The oil can be used as a source of edible oik industrial oil, and lubricant oil. Widely planting of Chinese tallow will not only supply renewable materials for bio-energy production, but also help solving rural problems, since it will help increase income of the producers, increase rural jobs, and accelerate rural economic development. Chinese tallow kernel oil was therefore chosen for the raw material for biodiesel production.Homogeneous catalysts are used in the traditional process of preparing biodiesel, such as NaOH, KOH, Sodium mehtylate, and sulphurric acid. The key advantage of these catalysts is low-cost, however, there are great flaws also, including complex post treatment, eroding equipment, and polluting the air. Disadvantage of using lipase, another kind of catalyst is the long reaction time due to reduced activity of the catalyst because of methanol. Transformation rate of biodiesel is more than 95% by supercritical methanol method with short reaction time and less post sample treatment, but has high requirement for equipment.Making Biodesel from Chinese tallow kernel oil were researched with new catalysts, i.e., namo magnetism solid catalyst and surfactant-coated enzymes. Kinetic transformation model was established based on the reaction mechanism and dynamic reaction process. The properties of the biodesel product were analyzed, and the byproduct glycerol was separated and refined.Main contents of the research were as follows:1. Physical and chemical characteristics and fatty acid composition of Chinese tallow kernel oil: the number of carbon in the oil was 18, two new fatty acids were found as lauroleic acid and hendecanoic acid.
