Ecological Security is defined as the undamaged or unthreatened conditions of the living space and eco-environment for regional sustainable development. Land use and land cover pattern changes are the most important among the factors and processes influencing the regional ecological security. And land use / cover change process for the maintenance of ecosystem services play a decisive role. So how to estimate the value of ecosystem service function effectively becomes the focus of present research and front subject. It is the focus and bottleneck of domestic researches about method, principle, prediction and threshold value of quantificational assessment during studying ecological security and ecosystem service value.The combination of the National Natural Science Foundation, this paper choose loess plateau in northern Shaanxi province as a study, according to its actual ecological problems, through field surveys and measurements, using RS, GIS and statistical approaches, researched on regional land-use and coverage change, and the spatial-temporal changes of ecological service value .On this basis, this paper applied Mahalanobis distance methods in the first time, established the ecological security of loess plateau in northern Shaanxi province. Studies on landscape ecology theory, using multi-objective planning methods; This paper made the adjustment of space structure and proportion for the land-use, thus ultimately attained visualization of the land use security situation in loess plateau in northern Shaanxi province.This paper is divided into seven chapters, the first chapter provides research progress of land-use / land-cover change, ecological services value and ecological security.
